Makin' Maple is a Dickie family tradition. My children are the 5th generation of Dickies to make maple syrup in Minnesota, in the same woods my great Grandpa Walter used to make maple in the 1920's. As Grandma Gladys always said, "When the sap runs, the saps run."

Cutting and hauling wood to boil the sap
It takes a large amount of wood to boil down the sap. At least half our work every year is cutting and hauling wood for the fire.
Great pictures! But who took the picture of me in my white T-shirt with the log thrown over my shoulder?
